Have you ever noticed, in regards to animated comedies, that the more famous the voice cast, the worse the movie?  Pixar usually doesn’t rely on big names.  But Will Smith toplined the forgettable Shark Tale, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz head up the diminishing returns of the Shrek franchise, and now Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt, and Jonah Hill tackle MegaMind.

It’s not that it looks bad so much as lazy — the idea is that a supervillain is the main character, so any jokes you can immediately think of for a set up like that are probably included in the trailer.  Check it out:

Funnily enough, DreamWorks seems to be actively hiding the real plot of the movie.  Spoilers: according to the official synopsis, MegaMind accidentally kills MetroMan near the beginning of the movie and realizes without him, his life has no purpose.  I guess death doesn’t go over well in trailers for kids’ movies.
