Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel star in the upcoming romantic dramedy Life as We Know It, about a mismatched pair forced to raise a child together when the parents — mutual friends of both — tragically die. Don’t you hate it when your dead friend leaves behind a will that serves as the perfect setup to a movie?
It’s sort of like a sequel to Knocked Up, except Heigl was never pregnant, she still hates the leading man, and the baby’s real parents are dead. So I guess not that much like a sequel to Knocked Up.
In all seriousness, for the romcom crowd, this could be a fine night out. Much of the movie seems to focus on cute parenting montages (the kid gets poop on her face! Adorable!) and a whole lot of pop culture references, from Taylor Swift to Slumdog Millionaire. (And yes, the Slumdog Millionaire shout-out is also in reference to poop.)
Even though you don’t see them in this trailer for more than a split second, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama) play the dead couple.
By the way, not to play Concerned Parent here (especially since I’m not a parent), but regarding that scene where Josh Duhamel pushes the baby, and the baby cries: I just want to remind everybody that that’s not special effects. Josh Duhamel (or a double) really did knock a baby over, and the baby really did cry. Anyway. Carry on.
