Hey guys, just want to give you an update on all the latest and greatest trailers that have hit the net recently. There have been some doozies, even just in the last 24 hours, so here are some of our favorites from around the interwebs.
First up, I just got word that the full International Trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has made its way, sans Japanese subtitles and doo-dads, to several fan sites. It’s basically a completely different look at the film and I’d encourage any die-hards to check it out immediately:
Next up, we have the brand new Public Enemies trailer from the Michael Mann marketing camp. The first trailer knocked many people’s socks off, but that’s nothing compared to the caliber of this spot. Despite the not-so-perfect quality of the clip from its current encode, the digital look is swiftly dividing film people and potential audiences alike. I think it looks kind of cool, but it definitely falls apart in scenes with a lot of motion so we’ll see how it pans out. What works with Collateral in a modern setting may just not cut it for a period piece:
Following that up we have the brand new teaser trailer, which happens to be our first real look to begin with, at Mike Judge’s next sure-to-be-hilarious comedy Extract. The dynamite cast alone makes this one a sure thing for my most anticipated list, and I don’t see Judge letting me down anytime soon, even after the studio debacle which was Idiocracy:
Yes, it’s another Robert Rodriguez kids movie. Not Sin City 2 people, but more in the vain of Spy Kids, a movie I loved at the time but am pretty sure I’ve steadily grown out of as the years have worn on. This film might appeal to the 12 year old and under crowd too, but as I’m not the target audience, I can’t say it looks like anything I’d be interested in. Check out the first trailer for the movie, Shorts, below:
Don’t get me wrong, I do really love a great summer blockbuster film, but The Brothers Bloom has been getting some of the best advance word of mouth I have ever heard about a film before and I am seriously thrilled that it’s finally coming out… since it’s been coming out for over a year now. Anyway, word is the release date is finally concrete, so be sure to check out this one when it comes out on May 29th:
Did you hear about Powder Blue? Because all I heard was that Jessica Biel played a stripper and that was good enough for me. Then it was going to be a direct-to-dvd release, now it’s been considered good enough for a limited theatrical run. Only now has it gotten an official trailer, and it’s actually pretty tight, so the whole direct-to-dvd thing is looking pretty silly. Anyway, see what you think of it, maybe it’ll be worth admission?:
Well, to wrap things up, we have what could be a very average but also fairly funny new teen comedy. Yeah I know, snore right? Not necessarily. Mostly because it’s Chris Columbus’s return to the genre he once headlined with Adventures in Babysitting long before Home Alone, the first two Harry Potter movies, or his adaptation of Rent. This could be Columbus back to form, and it would be a most welcome return to what some of us think he should have been doing with his time since day 1. Anyway, the movie’s called I Love You, Beth Cooper and stars the cheerleader from Heroes as the bombshell. The odds may be turning in this one’s favor:
